Established in 1974, the centre caters for residents and day workers. Based on their intellectual abilities and interests, they join one of 11 work areas, offering therapeutic value and allow them to make a meaningful contribution. Established in 1966, Multiple Sclerosis South Africa is a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for the rights of individuals living with multiple sclerosis (MS) . Its mission is to ensure that people affected by MS receive recognition, improve access to treatment, support, and enhanced quality of life. The organization originated from a pressing need following the emergence of the first recorded cases of MS in the Eastern Cape, under the guidance of Dr. Geoffrey Dean. In August 1963, the society was finally registered on July 6, 1966. September 3, 1967. MSSA is actively involved in policy making and setting SA guidelines for the treatment of multiple sclerosis.
