Bramley Children's Home is a residential care facility for traumatised and abused children. The home was established in 1960 on premises bequested by the late Mr. Bramley. The home is registered to accommodate 54 children, of all races and church denominations, and is divided into 4 cottages each accommodating between 12 - 15 children between the ages of 6 and 18. The aim is to provide a secure environment for these children, with the programme concentrating on therapy, family reunification and foster care placements, where necessary.

There are two main areas in Olievenhoutbosch, namely the informal settlement area and the formal government housing area. In the formal community (government housing) there is electricity for all the houses, as well as water and sanitation. The informal settlement area, however, is crowded, lacks sanitation, electricity and all basic municipal services. The local primary school highlighted the need for intervention with the orphans in the community. Recent counts in the primary school alone indicated approximately 168 orphans. Many of these children are forced, through circumstances, to form part of a child-headed household.
