Meandering through Doolhof Estate is the picturesque Kromme River, which is supplemented by Gawie-se-Water. The River Walk, which was created in 2007, allows visitors to enjoy the scenic views on offer at Doolhof. One can follow the meandering path for several kilometres and stop at any one of the designated picnic sites along the walk. Visitors are welcome to enjoy a 10km walk through the vineyards. Doolhof, which is known for its mysterious hills and vales, is also home to many small mammals, including buck, porcupine, baboons and even leopard and who knows - you might even come across the Minotaur! Leentjiesklip is a portion of Wilderness Beach and is situated at the far western corner of Wilderness beach. The Wilderness Beach itself stretches from Kleinkrans to the mouth of the Keimans River estuary. Leentjiesklip and Leentjiesklip Beach are easily accessed from the N2. From Wilderness Village, turn into Station Road and again right into Sands Road. When you reach the beach you will find limited parking, clean ablutions facilities, sand-off foot shower and a brei (barbeque) and picnic area. The Leentjiesklip area is popular with for sunbathing, fishing, whale watching, birding and it also serves as a landing strip for hang-gliders and para-gliders. Fishermen come to this beach for a variety of fish species found in the area. More commonly caught are kabeljou, blactail, steenbrass, galjoen, mullet elf (shad) and the occasional spotted grunter.

Vast open grassy spaces, and plenty of trees for shade, just perfect for relaxing in nature and enjoying an afternoon picnic. Resting in a Valley this picnic site offers beautiful scenery, tranquility and some forest exploring for the family. There is an easy, short 450m walk in the forest beneath the huge tree ferns and small trickling streams. The forest floor path can be slippery so do be careful when walking over tree roots and logs. Another a slightly more strenuous walk takes visitors to the incredibly beautiful Spitzkop viewpoint overlooking the Knysna Heads. An ideal day outing for the whole family & be sure to remember your camera! The Oude Molen Eco Village provides a swimming pool, picnic and brei facilitiesis to the public. Open from Tuesday to Friday for private function use as per client requests, i. e: schools, churches, team building & old age homes etc. Open over weekends for all to enjoy. Bookings essential!

Situated just 8km's outside of Calitzdorp at the Calitzdorp Dam in the Klein Karoo. Fish Eagle Eco Camp is a paradise for the nature lover. A great getaway for the day, weekend or even longer. Drupkelders - loosely translated into Dripping Cellars, are rock pools in the Knysna forest. Combine a 3. 5km indigenous forest walk with a visit to magnificent rock pools in the Homtini River in the Knysna Forest. These massive rock pools offer deep, cola-coloured waters to cool off in and even a waterfall to clamber up next to (to another series of pools) . Take a rucksack with picnic and swimming things and wear good walking shoes as there is a steep section near the river. Due to the exclusivity of this gem, only 12 persons a day are allowed in and a Sanparks permit is required (Wildcards are not accepted for this walk) . It is not expensive and you are required to keep the permits on you should officials ask you for it by the rock pools. This trail starts at the Forest Edge Nature-lovers Retreat gate entrance. Situated on the banks of the beautiful Swartvlei Estuary in Sedgefield, Fish Eagle Green is one of the town's most popular swimming and picnicking spots. This large grassy common is great for kids and there are several brei facilities available. Where: Turn left at the Engen Garage just outside of Sedgefield, and carry on with the road until you reach the water's edge.

This lovely garden is situated in the centre of the coastal fynbos where the flora is at its richest.

Bollard Bay is a model family beach with safe swimming in shallow waters.

Situated alongside a spectacular 800 year-old Outeniqua Yellowwood Tree. This grassy site makes the ideal spot to spend a quiet few hours. There is a sizeable lawn that is perfect for running around or playing ball games, especially for little ones. It is also the start and end point of the nine kilometre Woodcutter Trail and the Homtini Cycle Route. Facilities: Wooden tables and benches, fire places, ablutions. The entrance to the Wilderness Lagoon can be found 750m from the village centre along Waterside Drive. Enjoy a picnic sitting on the grass overlooking the beautiful Wilderness Lagoon or on the benches along the boardwalk. This venue can become quiet festive over weekends and the holiday season. During high season SANParks may ask for an entrance fee. There are no ablution facilities.
