InThe Barons Palace Hotel in Oudtshoorn reveals to her guests an era of affluence and opulence. The Hotel was built at the turn of the century by a wealthy Ostrich Baron. The warm furnishings, large airy rooms, wooden staircase and huge log fires in Winter evoke memories of the bygone Victorian era, when the ostrich feather trade was at its height. Ascending the staircase to the sweeping reception rooms and vast veranda, guests can imagine the lavish entertaining that took place at the time. Baron's Palace comprises of 31 en-suite apartments, each of which is equipped with a color TV. 24 of the air conditioned rooms open onto the swimming pool. Other facilities include a bar. Conferences are catered for in two separate venues. The hotel is well-positioned to explore the many attractions of Oudtshoorn, including the Cango caves, the Feather Palace Museum and the ostrich farms. Ample secure parking is available. Children are welcome.
