The Nonwovens and Composites research group, located in Port Elizabeth, focuses on research and development in nonwovens, fibre reinforced composites, biocomposites, biopolymers, nanocomposites and nanofibres for a wide range of applications. Through mutually beneficial agreements with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, a sustainable nonwovens and composites industry in Southern Africa is promoted. The research group is involved in various projects with local and international industries for the application of nonwoven and composite materials in aerospace, automotive, rail, marine, building, construction and packaging industries.

VitaTex is a leading manufacturer of PP Nonwoven Spunbond, (VitaSpun), and EPE foam products, (VitaThene) . Our world-class facility is based in Ormonde Johannesburg, but we are able to distribute throughout Africa and the world.
