Ekukhanyeni Relief Project
Midrand, South Africa
Since its founding in 2005, Ekukhanyeni, a not for profit Organisation and Public Benefit Organisation has been focusing on upliftment in the majorly under-resourced communities surrounding Johannesburg, South Africa. Through its Educate, Nourish and Empower pillars of interventions, Ekukhanyeni brings the youngest children in these communities who receive sub-standard education, care and nourishment into the formal early childhood development care and early education sphere. Key to our interventions is the conversion of informal ECD sites to the level of compliant, registered ECD Centres; the upskilling of the ECD Centre Principals to better manage their social enterprises to create employment possibilities for women in the community; and the skills development training of these women to provide quality care and education to the children. Section 18A certificates can be issued for all Socio-Economic (SED) contributions.
