The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union [POPCRU] is a trade union organisation in South Africa operating within the South African Police Service [SAPS], the Department of Correctional Services [DCS] and the Traffic component.

Solidarity is your partner, your older brother in the workplace, as it were – the one who has been protecting its members’ rights against exploitation in the workplace since 1902; the one who even creates job security for you as a professional individual.

The main objective of the Union is to look after the interest of its members and to foster a spirit of unison among workers in general. Our organisation has been formed by the workers, for the workers, to represent their rights and interests in the workplace and to improve working conditions and wages.
