The aim of the Union is to unite teachers, Education workers and to work for a non-racial, non-sexist, just and democratic system of Education in a free democratic South Africa. Some of its objectives include negotiating on behalf of its members, to advance their individual and collective interest by entering collective bargaining relations with the Education authorities. To negotiate for better conditions of service and provide legal assistance to members in matters relating to education and employment, to create and shape a learning nation.
