Novo Mundo Travel was established by Mr Silverio Da Silva in 1972 in central Johannesburg where the company was based until 1999. Now located in the Johannesburg suburb of Bruma, it has grown to be one of the largest independently owned travel agencies in the city. Mr Silverio Da Silva has been a father figure in the Portuguese community since he opened the agency in 1972, and initially assisted Portuguese immigrants with their applications for South African residence. He continues to represent the Portuguese community in South Africa and has attended the opening of parliament various times as well as participated in a variety of discussions in Parliament. In addition, he helped build and form two Portuguese clubs in Johannesburg and is presently the Portuguese Councilor in South Africa...
